Faith and Affirmations: What You Need to Know to See Results

Faith and affirmations: must they be used together, or speaking affirmations alone is enough?

This is the dilemma many people find themselves in. They speak many affirmations, but feel nothing and see no change. The problem is that they are just speaking, without backing those words with faith.

Faith is believing that what you have said is true, even when the thing that is yet to appear. It is the title deed of what you hope to see that creates the force that brings it into effect. When you combine affirmations with faith, you go beyond positive words to authority.

In today’s blog, we’ll discuss what you need to know to see results when faith is mixed with affirmation. Let’s start by understanding the connection between the two.

Understanding the Connection Between Faith and Affirmation

Faith is the root that affirmations need to produce results. Think of affirmations as the seed, and faith as the unseen root providing the nutrients for the seed to grow and produce fruit. If your faith is small or weak, the fruits it will produce will not be substantial.

This means that your affirmations will not be as effective as you want them to be. On the other hand, when you have strong faith, your words will carry more life and power. So when you declare your affirmations, they will produce substantial fruits.

Also, mixing faith with affirmation helps you deal with doubt and with any negativity bias you have. It silences the voice in your head that says, “You don’t actually believe this.” Faith lets you speak about things that aren’t visible yet as if they are already happening, so you need to mix your affirmation with it to see results.

The Difference Between Positive Thinking and Faith-Based Speaking

Positive thinking is centred mainly on yourself, your personal willpower, and the ability to stay in a good mood every day. Positive thinking helps you reach a state of optimism, but since it is based on how you feel, it is fragile. So, assuming you receive bad news during the day or something does not go your way, your positive thinking can crumble like a pack of cards.

On the other hand, faith-based speaking moves you away from your personal effort. You don’t have to rely on yourself, willpower or mood, but on a higher power. Also, with faith-based speaking, irrespective of what is going on in your life, your words will not change, and your mindset will also not change.

Another key difference between the two is the shift that happens, going from “I hope” to “I know.” Most times, positive thinking sounds like a wish, “I hope everything works out because I’m trying to stay positive.” But with faith, you declare the words with certainty, “I know I am guided and supported, so I don’t have to worry about how the outcome looks right now.”

Ultimately, positive thinking is a boost for your emotions, while faith-based speaking keeps you anchored, irrespective of the things happening to and around you.

3 Steps to See Results with Faith-Based Affirmations

If you want to see results with your faith-based affirmations, these three factors must exist:

Alignment

The first thing you must do is ensure that your affirmations match your faith. If you are speaking words that contradict your spiritual beliefs, your heart will not be behind them. Your words must be an extension of your beliefs if you want to see results.

Consistency

You will not get results if you say your affirmations once and don’t repeat them. You must keep declaring the things you want and want to see in your life even when things seem to be going in the opposite direction. By speaking consistently, you’ll train your mind and prioritise faith over fears.

Expectation

Finally, you must act as if what you’re declaring is already true. If you affirm that “I have the peace of mind to handle this challenge,” but then spend the rest of the day complaining and worrying, you are cancelling out your words. Faith-based speaking requires expectation and sticking to your words. Act like the words you’ve spoken are already in motion, and wait for the results.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

When mixing faith with affirmations, avoid these two mistakes:

  • Expecting Magic: You can’t just say words of affirmation without believing in them and expect them to work. It’s not magic. Also, you have to put things in place that will help your words bring forth the desired result.
  • Setting a Timeline: Don’t set a timeline and expect things to change overnight. What setting a timeline does is trap you and kill your faith when what you expect does not happen. Faith is a journey, so keep speaking until you see a result.

Final Thoughts

You must always remember that affirmations are not magical phrases. When mixed with faith and patience, you can use them to achieve anything. Remember, the results don’t come from saying perfect words, but the depth of your conviction. So, start small, be consistent, and your world will in due time take the shape of your words.
